Obituary for Henrietta Howard
Henrietta Howard, 74, of Pottsville, passed away on Tuesday afternoon in her residence. Born in Pottsville, on December 13, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Barbara (Wheeler) and Willie Nelson. She was a graduate of Pottsville High School and a member of Bethel AME Church, Pottsville. Henrietta devoted her entire life to taking care of children. She worked as a teacher assistant in a day care center for 20+ years, retiring in 2000. She was very instrumental in raising her great grandchildren, Sean and Dimarcus Vilcheck and enjoyed spending time with her entire family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James David Howard Sr., in 2008 and to whom she was married 53 years; sisters: Mae Rivera and Margaret Torres; brothers: Willie Nelson Jr. and David Nelson. Henrietta is survived by three daughters, Brenda, wife of Kevin Norris, of Pottstown; Jennifer A., wife of Andre Downs, of Duncan, SC; Selma D. Howard, of Reston, VA; a son, James D.Howard Jr., husband of Bronzie, of Blakeslee, PA; two sisters, Ethel Santiago, of Lebanon; Barbara Nelson, of Pottsville; three brothers, James Nelson, of Langhorne, PA; Charles Nelson, of Pottsville; Robert Nelson, of Pottsville; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA, with Rev. Earl P. Singleton officiating. A viewing will be held on Friday evening, April 10th, from 6-8:00 p.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc. and also, on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
