Obituary for Walter G. Ryon Jr.
Walter G. Ryon, Jr., 85, of Beach Haven, NJ and formerly of Pottsville passed away on Friday afternoon surrounded by his family in Luther Woods, Hatboro, Montgomery County. Born in Pottsville on October 12, 1928, he was the son of the late Walter G. and Margaret (Moore) Ryon. Walter proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Moravian Church, Bethlehem. Walter was a stockbroker for many years with several firms. He last worked for Shearson Lehman where he retired in 1998. Walter belonged to the Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club, Beach Haven, NJ. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte A. (Atkinson) in 1988 and to whom he was married for 29 years; brother, Richard Ryon and sister, Elsie Clay. Walter is survived by a daughter, Margaret R., wife of Richard DiSammartino, of Ambler, PA; sons: Lt. Cmdr. Walter G. Ryon III U.S. Navy Retired, husband of Sharon, of New Hope, PA and Robert M. Ryon, husband of Schuyler, of New Vernon, NJ; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville with Pastor Peggy Sue Pfeffer officiating. A visitation with the family will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Charles Baber Cemetery, Pottsville. The family request memorial contributions in Walter's name be sent to the American Cancer Society, 101 W. Frack St., Frackville, PA 17931. Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
