Obituary for Leo Francis Lotz
Leo Francis Lotz, 91, of Pottsville, passed away Saturday morning at Providence Place.

Born in Pottsville on August 14, 1928, he was the son of the late
Leo Joseph and Mary (Glunz) Lotz.

Leo attended the St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic School and graduated from Pottsville High School in 1946.

He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church where he was a lifelong member of its Beneficial Society and the St. Bernard's Beneficial Society as well as the St. John's Holy Name Society.

Leo proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict where he was stationed in Germany.

He was also a life member of the Catholic War Vets and the Yorkville Hose Company.

Leo owned and operated Lotz's Market and many will remember Leo for having owned and operated Lotz's Cafe on W. Market Street in Pottsville with his brothers, Charles and Robert.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Charles E., Robert A., Albert G. and Richard L. Lotz; and sisters: Bertha Curry; Josephine Zwiebel; Eleanor A. and Dorothy Lotz.

He is survived by Dorothy (Burns) Lotz, whom he married in 1970; children: Thomas R. Lotz, of Pottsville; Peter G. Lotz, husband of Lynn, of Minersville; Judith A. DiObilda , wife of Vincent , of Lancaster; Patricia A. Lombel, wife of Ronald, of Pottsville; and Cynthia Monroe, wife of Wayne, of Highland, Maryland; grandchildren : Dr. Rebecca Lombel, wife of Dr. Kamal Fahim, of Michigan; Christopher Lombel, husband of Kelly, of Pottsville; Sarah Lombel, of Pottsville; Celene , Grace , and Leah Monroe, all of Highland, Maryland; 2 great grandchildren: Marcus and Luke Fahim; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 4th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 913 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, with Father David J. Loeper officiating. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8:00p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the procession will leave for church at Lord Bixler Funeral Home ,Inc. 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville.

Interment with military honors will follow in St. John #2 Cemetery , Pottsville.

The family request contributions in Leo's memory be sent to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 913 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901.
