Obituary for William J. Heckman
William J. Heckman, 88, of Pottsville, passed away Thursday evening in York Terrace, Pottsville. Born in Minersville, on August 6, 1926, he was the son of the late Florence (Smith) and Roy Heckman. He was a graduate of Pottsville High School and a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. William proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed by Alcoa as a tool and die maker for over two decades, retiring in 1976. William also worked at Kep's Corner for many years along with assisting in tax preparation for Stranko Accounting in Pottsville William enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by a son, Andrew J. in 2003; brothers: Robert and Donald; sisters: Alice, Jean, Hazel, and Betty; and granddaughter, Abby Yeagley. William is survived by his wife, Ann T. (Biltheiser), to whom he was married for 60 years; sons: Stephen G., husband of Patricia, of Ambler, PA; Martin J., husband of Erin A., of Pottsville; William G., husband of Katy, of Orwigsburg; daughter, Beth Ann Shuttlesworth, wife of James, of Williamstown, PA; grandchildren: Danielle, Martin, Devin, and Maura Heckman; Mitchell and Hannah Heckman; Shannon and Jamie Shuttlesworth, and Alexa Ferri; sister, Marian Stranko, of Pottsville; many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 19th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick R.C.C, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville with Msgr. Glosser officiating. There will be no viewing or receiving line. Interment in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family.
