Obituary for Thomas C. Jones
Thomas C. Jones, 63, of Pottsville, passed away on December 27th in Lehigh Valley Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 14, 1950, he was the son of the late Walter F. and Mildred T. (Christie) Jones. He was a 1968 graduate of Pottsville High School and Penn State University with a degree in Business Administration. Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was the nursing home administrator at Schuylkill Center Genesis Health Center for eleven years and retired in 2003. Tom was a member of the Pottsville Rotary Club. He enjoyed his family and spending time with his granddaughter and playing guitar. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister, Christie Salem and brother, Walter "Buzz" Jones. Tom is survived by his wife, Peg (Johnson) to whom he was married for 43 years; daughter, Kimberly M., wife of Joseph Keglovitz, of Pottsville; granddaughter, Grace C. Keglovitz; sister, Dr. Judith Malick, of State College; brothers: William E. Jones, of Philadelphia and Edmund Jones, husband of Julie, of Pottsville; several nieces and nephews; and grand nieces and nephews. A viewing will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be sent to Special Olympics of Schuylkill County, 17 Maple Ave., Marlin, PA 17951. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Lehigh Valley Hospital and also, the Pottsville/Schuylkill Haven EMS for the exceptional care and attention given to Tom.
