Obituary for Talton L. Alston
Talton L. Alston, 68, of New York, NY, and formerly of Pottsville passed away on Sunday, May 18th in The Haven Hospice in New York. Born in Pottsville, on July 11, 1945, he was the son of the late Eleanor (Howard) and Heywood T. Alston. He was a graduate of Pottsville High School, class of 1965. Talton proudly served in the U.S. Army 1967-1969 during the Vietnam War. He worked as a US Postal Service clerk in New York for 25 years. In addition to his parents, Talton was preceded in death by a brother, Lee J. Alston in 1950; sisters Virginia Claiborne in 1998 and Helen Bynoe in 2001; and a nephew Stanley Wilder, Sr. in 2003. Talton is survived by his brother Lester T. Alston of NY; sister Geraldine M. Alston of NY; step-daughter Holly Atkins of Raleigh, NC; and nephews Lee J. Wilder of Reading, PA, Roger Bynoe of NY, and Thomas Lee Green of NY. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 28th, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven, with Minister Lee J. Wilder officiating. Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at lordbixler.com
