Obituary for Rita M. Billger
Rita M. Billger, age 91, of Pottsville, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2015 at the Schuylkill Center in Pottsville with her family by her side after a lengthy illness. She was born in Mahanoy City to the late Nellie (Grouge) and Walter J. Mack. Rita was a graduate of Tamaqua High School and attended the Reading School of Nursing. In her earlier years, Rita was very involved with the BPW (Business and Professional Women's Club). She and her husband were long time members of both the Pottsville and Schuylkill Country Clubs. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Harry T. Billger in 1981 and to whom she was married 37 years and her sister, Evelyn Hauser. Rita is survived by her daughters: Denise Breslin, of Pottsville and Harriet Porter, wife of John, of Newark, DE; two sons: David Billger, of Schuylkill Haven and Harry Billger, husband of Amy, of Lake Oswego, Oregon; grandchildren: Ryan Breslin, of Pottsville and Andrew Saxton, husband of Marie, of Bear, DE; great grandchildren: Brianna, Trevor, and Shane Saxton, of Bear, DE. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 7th at 11:00 a.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville. A viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m.until the time of service in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
