Obituary for Rev. Archie H. Moore
Reverend Archie H. Moore, returned to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, April 27, 2017 after a valiant battle with cancer, in the presence of his loved ones. His devotion to his family and friends and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and gave him peace.

Archie was born to the late Elwood and Rosalee (Taylor) Moore on August 26, 1943, and graduated from Pottsville Area High School. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the Army where he served as a Chaplin in the Vietnam War. He then continued his love of the Lord by attending Penn State University, before moving on to Wilberforce University and Payne Theological Seminary in Ohio. He pastored several churches over his life, but Bethel AME in Pottsville was his first, and always held a special place in his heart. He was employed by the Pennsylvania State Treasury Dept. from which he retired in 2002.

He was a proud husband and father, and is survived by his wife, Doris L. (Honaker) Moore, to whom he was married for 18 years; children; Aaron Moore, of Pottsville, Archie Moore, of Mt. Carmel, Brenda Iacobacci, of Pottsville, Kanya Valent, of Pottsville, and Ajshia Moore, at home; siblings, Elwood Moore Jr., of Baltimore; Robert Moore, of Pottsville, David Sydnor, of Florida, and Thomas Stearns, of Thailand; six grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wives, Cleo W. Moore and Jacqueline Moore.

His heart also entrusted the following, to continue to love and respect his children when he would no longer be present in their lives; Mark Iacobacci, Lisa McCabe, Robert Heckman, and Isaiah Parsons, all of Pottsville.

The kindness that he showed to everyone he met, will be missed by many, the hand he offered to anyone’s aid, would be welcome, the life and love that he shared and lived will be cherished.

Funeral services will be held at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home Inc. 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville on May 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Earl P. Singleton and his brother, Thomas Stearns officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

The family requests contributions in Archie’s name to be sent to: Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo Street, Pottsville, PA 17901 to assist with funeral expenses.
