Obituary for Nicholas H. Brutts
Nicholas H. Brutts, 20, of Pottsville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 15th at St. Luke's University Hospital, as the result of an accident. Born in Norristown, on March 9, 1994, he was the son of Holly L.(Hamm) and Robert L. Brutts. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Pottsville, where he also volunteered in the soup kitchen. Nick was a 2013 graduate of Nativity High School, Pottsville, where he was very active in several sports. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves, Schuylkill Haven for six months and transferred to the Navy on June 11, 2014, where he had just returned from completing his basic training. Nick enjoyed running marathons, especially for charities. He participated in the Sol Lipton 5K Run and placed in the finish and also did the MS Bike ride from Philadelphia to Ocean City and back. He was a very giving individual and gave the greatest gift of all, his kidney, to his father as a result of his death. Nick was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert L. Brutts and maternal grandfather, Harlan T. Hamm. . In addition to his parents, Nick is survived by a sister, Noelle K., at home; brother, Ryan, husband of Amanda; nephew, Conner; paternal grandparents, Polly Brutts and Bill Lawrence, of Mohnton; aunt Wendy and uncle Bob Flynn and their daughter, Tessa, who was like a sister to Nick, of Allentown; and aunt Tina and uncle Steve Brutts, of Pottstown. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. The family request memorial contributions in Nicholas' name be sent to: Gift of Life 401 North 3rd Street Philadelphia, PA 19123.
