Obituary for Michael E. Roman

Michael E. Roman, 66, of Pottsville, passed away unexpectedly in his residence on Monday. Born in Shenandoah Heights, on April 27, 1949 , he was a son of the late Theresa (Turo) and Edward M. Roman. He was a 1967 graduate of Mahanoy Area High School and 1972 graduate of Drexel University, receiving a BS in Accounting, and a 1978 graduate of Wilkes College, with an MBA in Accounting and Finance. He also graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, San Diego. Michael proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1972-1976, where he served on the USS Wainwright, a guided missle cruiser, out of Charleston, SC. He also served on the aircraft carrier, USS Vancouver, which demined the Haiphong Harbor following the Vietnam War. He worked his whole life in the accounting field. Michael is also survived by three sisters, Ruth Bronder, wife of Michael, of Bowie, MD; Renee Semick, wife of Victor, of Pottsville; Susan Roman, of Pottsville; a brother, Edward J. Roman, husband of Kathleen, of Collegeville, PA; and several nieces and nephews. A private Memorial Mass will be held at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church at the convenience of the family. Interment at the convenience of the family will take place in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. The family request contributions in Michael's memory be sent to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
