Obituary for Mary N. Prestileo
Mary N. Prestileo, 99, of Pottsville, passed away in Pottsville Gardens at Golden Living Center, Pottsville, on Sunday morning.
Born in Pottsville on December 31, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Bonadio) and Joseph Prestileo.
She was a graduate of Pottsville High School and a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville and the former St. Joseph’s RCC. She was also a member of the American Sons of Italy.
Mary was the owner and operator of the family business, Prestileo Cleaners. She also worked in various garment factories throughout the years; was a part-time clerk for Murphy Jewelers; and waitressed at several local restaurants.
She enjoyed cooking for the spaghetti dinners at St. Joes and also playing the organ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Tony, Vince, and Dr. Frank Prestileo; and sisters: Rita McDonald, Anita Mistishun, and Helen Campisi.
Mary is survived by sister, Josephine Molinari, of Pottsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 27th, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville. A viewing will be held Thursday morning at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc, 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville from 9:30 a.m. until the procession will leave for church.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hillside.
