Obituary for Mae M. Bowers
Mae M. Bowers, 81, of Pottsville, passed away on Friday morning in her residence. Born in Pottsville, on August 6, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Elsie (McSurdy) and Robert Bowers. She was a graduate of Pottsville High School and attended Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville. Mae was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #134. She was a homemaker her entire life and was devoted to her children and grandchildren. Mae most enjoyed spending her time with her family. In additon to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by Arthur Shay, her long-time companion of 32 years; brothers: Joseph, Robert, Jackie, Charlie, and Harry Bowers; sisters: Ida, Pearl, and Audrey Bowers. Mae is survived by a daughter, Pearl, husband of Michael Robertson, of Pottsville; two sons Jessie, husband of Tammy Shay, of Pottsville; John Zanini, of Sunbury; grandchildren: Sophia Shay, Mariahna and Noah Robertson, and Dwayne Zanini; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 6th at 11:00 a.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA, with Pastor Peggy Sue Pfeffer officiating. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m.. and Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Red Church Cemetery, Orwigsburg.
