Obituary for John "Jack" F. Conway
John "Jack" F. Conway, 71, of Pottsville, passed away on Sunday morning at Manor Care Health Services, Pottsville. Born in Pottsville, on December 25, 1943, he was the son of the late Agnes (Miller) and John M. Conway. He was a 1961 graduate of Nativity BVM High School. Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Forrestal. Through the years Jack worked at Lehigh Valley Diary, Heller Distributor, Bethlehem Steel, and Whole Sale Beverage. Jack was a life-time member of the Humane Fire Company #1, Pottsville, where he served as Assistant Fire Chief from July 1975-June 1978 and July 1983-June 1986. He was also a life-time member of the AMVETS Post 180 and a social member of the America Hose Company #2. He enjoyed hunting and going to the casino. Jack is survived by his girlfriend, Patricia Kenney; daughter, Jacqueline Conway, of Pottsville; son, Jason Conway, of Pottsville; two brothers, Thomas E. and Joseph J. Conway, both of Pottsville; grandchildren: Cody, Colton, Cassidy, and Abbie; and great granddaughter, Kendal. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 27th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville. A viewing will be held on Friday at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville from 9:30 a.m. until the procession will leave for church. Interment with military honors will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. The family request contributions in Jack's memory be sent to the Humane Fire Company #1, 200 Humane Ave., Pottsville, PA 17901. Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
