Obituary for John F. Heacock
John F. Heacock, 86, of Pottsville, passed away on March 22, 2016 at York Terrace Nursing Center.

A native of Bedford PA, he was born on July 5, 1929 to the late Elizabeth (Arnold) and Floyd Heacock.

A graduate of Bedford High School in 1947, he also graduated from both Lock Haven University, where he was a standout wrestler, and Penn State University.

John proudly served his country in the U.S Army. He was a member of St John the Baptist Church, Pottsville.

He was a retired math professor at Penn State Schuylkill Campus. In 2007, he was inducted into the Bedford County Sports Hall of Fame as Bedford High School's first State Wrestling Champion (1945) and in 2014, he was inducted into the Pennsylvania Wrestling Hall of Fame.

In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Ann Sitler and a son, Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Carole Bonadio, formerly of Lock Haven, to whom he was married for 61 years ; three daughters: Ann Marie, wife of Thomas Sinton, of Pittsburgh; Teresa, wife of Warren Vedilago, of Jonestown; and Dianne, wife of Richard Dougherty, of Friedensburg; six grandchildren: Amy, wife of Cullen Flanders; Thomas Sinton, husband of Amanda; Ryan Hutchinson; Maria, wife of Justin Achenbach; James Hutchinson; and Joseph Vedilago; and seven great grandchildren: Hannah, Ethan, Dylan, Nathan, Emily, Luke, and Sophia; sisters: Margaret Overbaugh, of Hanover; Mary Elizabeth Griffin, of Bethel Park; Catherine Shaffer, of Willow Street; brothers: F. Eugene Heacock, of Harrisburg; Joseph Heacock, of Lenhartsville; and James Heacock, of Phoenixville; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 30th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 913 Mahantongo St., Pottsville with the Rev. David J. Loeper officiating. A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Interment with military honors will follow in St. John #2 Cemetery, Pottsville.

The family request contributions in John's memory be sent to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
