Obituary for John Barry Dreher, Sr.
John Barry Dreher, Sr., 82, of Pottsville, passed away on Thursday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street, Pottsville.
Born in Pottsville, on August 3, 1935, he was a son of the late Dorothy (Mennig) and John A. Dreher.
He was a 1953 graduate of Pottsville High School.
John was employed by and retired from the City of Pottsville in the maintainance department. In his earlier years, he held various positions. He was employed by both Pottsville High School and Nativity High School and also, the Pottsville Moving and Storage
Company. Prior to that, he owned and operated several companies including a metal and textile recycling business in the 1960's, a roofing and general contracting business in the 70's and also, housing demolition and removal.
In his past-time John enjoyed watching the stock market, boxing, horse racing and was a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. He also enjoyed fishing and going to the casinos.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Aracelis Soet Dreher; wife, Faith Ann Connors; brother, Joseph; sisters: Barbara and Becky.
John is survived by a son, John Barry Dreher II, of Pottsville; and several nieces and nephews: Douglas, Louis, David, Sandi, Jodi, Sherri, Micky, Maryjane, and Marilyn.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 25th at 11:00 a.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville. A viewing will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in funeral home.
Interment will follow in St. John's #2 Cemetery, Pottsville.
