Joan M. Weiss, 88, of Pottsville, passed away on Saturday, April 24th, in her daughter's residence in Woodbridge, VA.
Born in Pottsville, on July 14, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Johnathan and Elizabeth (Minchoff) Marx.
She was a 1950 graduate of Pottsville High School and a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.
She worked as a homemaker for most of her life, but also worked at Bell Telephone for 4 years as a phone operator.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald F. Weiss, Sr., in December 2005 and to whom she was married 45 years; grandson, Gordon Adam Lambert; and siblings: John, George, Rita, Anthony ( Max), Charlie, Bob, Joseph, Albert, Thomas, Margaret, Anita , and Mary.
Joan is survived by four daughters, Monica Byrnes, wife of Brendan, of Foxboro, MA; Marie Lambert, wife of Gordon, of Woodbridge, VA; Michelle Marie Weiss, of Pottstown; Berthilla Marie Wiscount, widow of Michael Jr., of Philadelphia; a son, Gerald F. Weiss Jr., husband of Patricia, of Lake Wynonah; grandchildren: Matthew Weiss, Caitlin McDemus, Nicole Foose, Luke and Chloe Byrnes, Patrick, Nicholas, and James Lambert, and Zachary Wiscount; and 6 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed by nieces Bettyann, Molly and Joan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 4th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick R.C.C., 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville. A viewing will be held in church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Interment will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville .
