Obituary for James R. Metzger Jr.
James R. Metzger, Jr., 67, of Barnesville, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning. Born in Pottsville, on April 15, 1947, he was the son of the late Gladys L. (Renninger) and James R. Metzger, Sr. He was a 1968 graduate of Pottsville High School and then attended Lincoln Tech. James proudly served in the U.S. Navy in the Vietnam War. He was employed as an electronic technician at Allen Organ Co., Macungie for 34 years and retired in 2009. James was very active in the community and belonged to Alert Fire Co., St. Clair; VFW #109; and the Navy Club. He was a driver for the Veterans Van and the Pottsville EMS and was active with several other ambulance organizations throughout Schuylkill County. He is survived by his wife, Mary E. (Kravetz) Metzger to whom he was married for 33 years; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Metzger, at home: and cousin, Sondra Metzger, of Oklahoma City, OK. A Memorial Service at will be held on Saturday, November 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Salvation Army, 400 Sanderson St., Pottsville with Major Sharon Cupp officiating. A visitation with the family will be held at 10:00 a.m until the time of service. Interment with full military honors will be held in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery and will be private at the convenience of the family.
