Obituary for James E. Wetzel
James E. Wetzel, 74, of Pottsville passed away on Sunday morning in his residence with his family by his side.

Born in Pottsville on August 11, 1947, he was a son of the late Leroy and Mary (Benedict) Wetzel.

He was a machine operator at the Pottsville Bleach & Dye in Port Carbon for 23 years and also worked for the Schoeneman Beauty Supply Company.

James was a life member of the Goodwill Fire Company #4, Pottsville and of the Pottsville Fire Police.

James enjoyed fishing and going to the casino and watching the animals in the yard. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Haley Wetzel; brothers: Joseph, William, and Michael Wetzel; and sisters: Bernice Sabados, Theresa Moser, and Maggie Maskerines.

James is survived by his wife, Sadie E. (Price) to whom he was married 52 years; sons: James D. Wetzel, companion Norma Jean Wilson, of Pottsville and Brian S. Wetzel, companion of Tami Myers, of Pottsville; daughter, Michelle E. Maldonado, wife of Carlos, of St. Clair; grandchildren: Brenton and Caelob Williams, and Averie Maldonado; brothers: Robert Wetzel, of Hamburg and Francis Wetzel, companion of Rose Kenderes, of Port Carbon; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 4th at 11:00 a.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, with Deacon Larry Lonergan officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m.-until time of service in the funeral home.

The family request contributions in James' memory be sent to: Ruth Steinert Memorial SPCA, 18 Wertz Dr., Pine Grove, PA 17963.

Interment will follow in Queen of the Universe Cemetery, Saint Clair.
