Obituary for Herbert A. Shay
Herbert A. Shay, 90, of Pottsville, passed away Friday afternoon in Providence Place, Pottsville. Born in Pottsville, on July 6, 1924, he was a son of the late Jesse T. and Florence S. (Saltzer) Shay. He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. Herbert was a factory worker at Allied Chemical for 15 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Eagles Club of Pottsville. Herbert loved raising and riding horses. In addition to his parents, Herbert was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Ada (Portland) in 1985; sisters: Grace and Jean; and brothers: Dennis, Arthur, and Robert. He is survived by brothers: Jesse T. Shay, husband, of Sylvia, of Orwigsburg; Vincent Shay, husband of Faye, of Cressona; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services and interment in St. John #2 Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family. Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
