Obituary for Grace Hicks Jones
Grace Hicks Jones, 90, of Pottsville, PA, died on June 28, 2014, at Lehigh Valley Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Bloomsburg, PA, Grace was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ada (Correll) Hicks. Grace was a loving wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother, who provided unselfish and unending support, love, and encouragement to all members of the family regardless of the goal. Her home has been the center of many family gatherings, especially at Christmas, where she worked hard to make everyone's fondest wish come true. These strong family bonds established will endure. Grace is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Joseph H. Jones Sr.; two children, Joseph H. Jones, Jr. of Orwigsburg, Elizabeth Christie, wife of John of Boyds, Maryland; daughter-in-law, Kathy, widow of Greg Jones; six grandchildren, Robert Hicks Christie, David Joseph Christie, Carolyn A. Christie, Elizabeth Kaberle Jones, Lindsay Kate Jones, and Stephanie Grace Jones; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Grace was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Hicks Jones; and grandson, CPN Jason B. Jones, who was recently killed in action in Afghanistan; and a brother, Robert Hicks. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 3, at 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church, located at 4th and West Market Street, Pottsville, with the Pastor Bradley Schutt officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 9:30 AM until time of service also in the church. Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park.
