Obituary for Fred Maskerines
Fred Maskerines, 87, of Pottsville, passed away on Friday at Schuylkill Center with his family by his side.

Born in Pottsville on March 7, 1934, he was a son of the late John and Mary (Sich) Maskerines.

Fred was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Pottsville.

He worked for the City of Pottsville in the Street Department for over 25 years and in the Maintenance Department at Good Samaritan Hospital for over 20 years, retiring in 1999.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalene P. (Wetzel) on March 1, 2021, and to whom he was married 60 years; brothers: John and Joseph; sisters: Mary, Betty, Veronica, and Anna.

Fred is survived by three daughters, Debra Hrichak, wife of Michael, of Minersville; Diane Naradko, wife of Robert, of Saint Clair; Donna, wife of Kevin Hessler, of Kenhorst; grandchildren: Charles, Peter, Vanessa, Tiffany, Holly, Christopher, and Kevin; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

As a devoted father, he will be deeply missed by his daughters and their families, who he treasured. He spent most of his days phoning them frequently, a time he so cherished. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. He relished activities in the nursing home, especially bingo. He was an avid horse racing fan.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 29th at 11:00 a.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, with Deacon Larry Lonergan officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home.

The family request contributions in Fred's memory be sent to: American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.

Interment will follow in Queen of the Universe Cemetery, Saint Clair.
