Obituary for Frances K. Miller
Frances K. Miller, 98, of Schuylkill Haven passed away in her home on Tuesday, February 9th, surrounded by her devoted family. Born September 24, 1917 in Tamaqua, PA, she was the daughter of the late William and Frances (Koehler) Hirsch. She was a faithful member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, Pottsville and also attended Reedsville Evangelical Church Congregational Church, Schuylkill Haven. Frances graduated from Tamaqua High School where she was a member of the original all Women's Drum and Bugle Corps. She then graduated from the Wilfred Academy Hair and Beauty Culture School, Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Modeling School, Philadelphia. She was married at the Washington Memorial Chapel, Valley Forge, PA on July 16, 1940 to the former Pottsville Chevrolet Automobile Dealer, Robert A. Miller. Frances and her husband, Robert, traveled extensively together and with their closest friends. They also enjoyed many boating trips including an adventurous nautical journey through the Great Lakes and canal locks to North East, MD. Vacationing at the Jersey shore was also a family tradition as well as the many family and friend's parties at her beautiful home appropriately named "Windswept". Her love for the arts and culture were evident with her affiliations with the Reading Art Museum, Schuylkill County Council for the Arts and her many trips to museums in NYC. She was also a member of the former Pottsville Club and the Schuylkill County Historical Society. Frances also had a love for fashion and interior design always keeping up with the current trends. She will always be remembered for her artistic penmanship and never forgetting to send cards to all of her cherished friends and beloved family. Her smile would always light up a room and bring love and happiness to all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. on December 10, 1994 and to whom she was married 54 years; sisters, Beatrice Krueger and Laura R. Nolta; brothers, William and Wilson Hirsch. Frances is survived and will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Reba Conover, Allentown; daughter Kristine F. Miller-Siple and husband, Barry L. Siple, Schuylkill Haven; son Robert A. Miller III and wife, Janie Crosswell Miller, New Ringgold; grandchildren: Cara L. Miller and fianc̩ Brent Stern, Chicago; Kirsten J. Miller, Manayunk ; Zachary A.M. Siple and wife Jenna Siple, Snohomish, WA; and Austin R.M. Siple, Schuylkill Haven; great grandson, Mason Allen Siple, Snohomish, WA; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 15th at 10:30 a.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville with Pastors Mark Brooks and James Fidler officiating . A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. In lieu of flowers the family would like remembrances made to the Tamaqua Blue Raider Foundation Scholarship Fund, 109 W.
