Obituary for Elwood L. "Red" Blew
Elwood L. "Red" Blew, 77, of Pottsville, passed away on Wednesday afternoon in Schuylkill Medical Center South Jackson with his family by his side. Born in Mahanoy City, on July 7, 1937, he was a son of the late Helen (Foeller) and Harry Blew. He attended Mahanoy City High School and completed business courses with the Schoeneman Corporation, where he worked as a credit manager for 35 years, retiring in 2006. "Red" proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brother, Russell. "Red" was the husband of Sarah "Sally" (Williams) Blew to whom he was married 53 years; two daughters, Denise A., wife of Andy Pope, of Pottsville; Beth A. Blew, of Pottsville; three grandchildren: Lauren E. Pope, of Pottsville, Leslie A. Pope, of Bethlehem, Andrew R. Pope Jr., of New Orleans, LA ; sister, Janice M. Blew, of Barnesville; and several nieces and nephews. A visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, March 28th, at 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville.
