Edward L. Pflueger III, PhD, 84, of Nassau, NY, formally from Pottsville, PA passed away on February 16, 2024, with his family, who had helped him through the last 7 years of illness, by his side. Born in Pottsville, PA to the late Edward II and Eva Pflueger, he was ordained in May of 1965 in Pennsylvania and eventually left the priesthood to pursue his career in psychology. He was always giving to his community and helped to found Circles of Mercy in Rensselaer, NY as well as programs to help veterans such as Veterans Industries, prior to his retirement from the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY in 1999.
He focused much of his energy on his family, especially on his son Eddie to make sure no matter what obstacles lay in front of him due to his disability that he would learn to be a strong independent man and his peers would see him as an equal.
Edward is survived by his children, Eva M. Pflueger of Ballston Spa, NY, Catherine M. (Stephen) Brennan, of Cohoes, NY and Edward L. Pflueger IV of Nassau, NY; grandchildren Kendrik J. Cole, Kory V. Hogan Jr., Shyaira Hogan, Kyla M. Brennan, Alexandra E. Brennan, and Lily M. Brennan. He is also survived by his great granddaughter Ivy Brennan.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Edward's family on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, 1818 Mahantongo Street Pottsville, PA 17901. Interment will immediately follow in Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville, PA.
