Obituary for Edward J. Devaney
Edward J. Devaney, 64, of Pottsville, passed away on Thursday morning in Schuylkill Medical Center South Jackson, Pottsville.
Born in Pottsville, on November 14, 1951, he was a son of the late Eleanor A. (Schmitt) and Joseph L. Devaney.
He was a graduate of Pottsville High School and a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.
Edward worked as a crane operator at Alcoa Aluminum for 27 years, retiring in 2006 and then as a custodian for the Pottsville School district from 2006-2012.
He was a member of the St. Bernards Club, Pottsville and the Antique Automobile Club of America. He was very interested in classic and antique cars. Ed and his wife, Joyce especially loved traveling to and spending time in Gettysburg.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce E. (Polinsky) Devaney, to whom he was married for 34 years; a brother, Richard H. Devaney, husband of Lorrie, of Friedensburg; nieces: Tara Weygandt and Amanda Ruscavage; nephews: Shawn and Ryan Devaney, Vincent and Brian Yakaitis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 17th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville. A viewing will be held on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until procession will leave for church at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville.
Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville.
