Obituary for David H. Rich
David H Rich, 84, from Pottsville, PA passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Providence Place in Pottsville.
Born on September 12, 1937 at home in Pottsville, son of Alfred and Bella Rich. He is preceded in death by brothers Sam Rich and Archie Rich. And survived by sisters Sally Mintzer (nee Rich) and Jeanne Luckenbilll (nee Rich).
David was a 1955 graduate of Pottsville High and a member of the Varsity football and track teams. He is a graduate of Penn State University and holds a master’s degree from Temple University. He settled in the Philadelphia area with Susie Rich (nee Coller) to raise a family of five daughters, Debby, Katie, Judy, Dianne and Patti. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a great, great grandchild.
For 30 years he worked as an aerospace engineer in Civil Defense for General Electric, Martin Marietta and Lockheed Martin. He was active in Delaware County, PA politics and served as a committee man organizing local elections. He was a devoted Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. He enjoyed family vacations at the Jersey Shore and entertained many with stories from his summer lifeguard experiences in Wildwood NJ.
In consideration of the family, a private memorial service will be held.
