Obituary for Clayton H. Edwards
Clayton H. Edwards, 73, of Pottsville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday evening at Orwigsburg Center, Orwigsburg.
Born in Allentown, on September 19, 1944, he was a son of the late Edith M. (Paul) and Clayton D. Edwards.
He was a 1963 graduate of Pottsville High School and a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church Pottsville.
Clayton proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam era.
He was a master tradesman and worked as a maintenance supervisor at Agere for 38 years, retiring in 2001.
Clayton was a member of the 2nd Mountain Rod and Gun Club and the Cotton Club, both where he played on the pool leagues.
He was a musician and played worship music for various churches. In the 1960-70's he was a disguinshed guitar player for multiple Rock & Roll Bands.
In addition to his parents, Clayton was preceded in death by a son, Paul, granddaughter, Victoria; brothers: James, Robert, and Glen Edwards; sisters: Lorraine Heffner and Lois Quick.
Clayton is survived by his wife, Loretta E. (Warner) Edwards, to whom she was married 53 years; a son, Clayton D. Edwards, husband of Michelle, of San Diego, CA; a daughter, Marlene M. Hohman, wife of Chris, of Pottsville; grandchildren: Christopher and Hannah Hohman and Abagail Edwards; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 20th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, with Msgr. Edward J. O'Connor officiating. A viewing will be held at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville on Friday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. until procession will leave for church.
Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery.
