Obituary for Carl W. Minchhoff Sr.
Carl W. Minchhoff, Sr., 96, of Pottsville, passed away Tuesday evening in his residence surrounded by his family. Born in Pottsville on July 22, 1918, he was the son of the late Francis and Mathilda (Marx) Minchhoff. He attended Pottsville High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Carl was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville. He was a union carpenter working for several firms in the area, spending most of his years as foreman at Snyder & Davis Contracting, Pottsville. Carl enjoyed hunting in his younger days and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn G. Minchhoff, who passed away on November 26, 2014 and to whom he was married 54 years: a son, Carl Jr.; and a daughter, Maureen; sisters: Mathilda and Teresa; brothers: John, Francis, Christopher, Eugene, George, and Paul. Carl is survived by his daughter: Nannette C. Leganza, wife of Thomas, of Pine Grove; sons: Anthony M. Minchhoff, husband of Lynn, Parryville; Christopher F. Minchhoff, husband of Deb, Tamaqua; and Lamar M. Minchhoff, husband of Margaret, Pottsville; grandchildren: Carla, Christine, Melissa, Tommy, Matthew, Elizabeth, Michael, Carly, and Mark; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. ��Private graveside services with military honors will be held in St. John No. 2 Cemetery, Pottsville. ��Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
