Obituary for Bernard S. Spece Sr.
Bernard S Spece Sr., 82 of Pottsville passed away on Thurs evening in Schuylkill Medical Center East Norwegian with his family by his side. Born in pottsville on June 12, 1932, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret (Margalavage) Spece. He was a postal clerk at the Pottsville Post Office for over 40 years. Bernard was very proud of his service to his country in the U S Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of St Patrick R.C.C Pottsville and graduated highschool in Blythe Twp. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans and several local Fire Companies. Bernard like to hunt and fish, but more than anything else he loved spending time with his Grandchildren and family and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son and brothers Gerald and Joe Spece Jr. Bernard is survived by his wife of over 50 years Ruth B (Thomas) Spece, Six daughters; Diane Spece-Adams of Deer Lake, Marsha Spece of Pottsville, Bernadette wife of Jeff Mason of Pottsville, Leslie Spece of Pottsville, Jessica wife of Kieran Conway of Orwigsburg and Cecilia wife of Sean Duffy of Perkiomenville, Pa.and seven sons; James, Andrew and Matthew all of Pottsville, Michael husband of Correen of Pottsville, Philip of Schuylkill Haven, Bernard Jr of Hegins and Christopher husband of Sue of Boyertown. three brothers; Michael husband of Ruthanne of Ashland, Tom husband of Ann of Pottsville and Edward Spece of Florida. Two sisters; Barbara wife of Carl Bausinger of New York and Kathleen Spece of Reading. Seventeen Grandchildren, two Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday Aug. 19 at 10:30 am in St Patrick R.C.C. Pottsville. A viewing will be held on Tuesday morning at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc 1818 Mahantongo St Pottsville from 8:30 am until the procession will leave for church. Interment will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full Military Honors. Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc is in charge of arrangements.
