Obituary for Arthur "Sonny" J. Moraco, Jr.
Arthur "Sonny" J. Moraco, Jr., 91, of Pottsville, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Pottsville, on June 26, 1930, he was a son of the late Arthur J. and Sarah (Neidlinger) Moraco, Sr.
He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, and the former St. Joseph Church. Sonny was very devoted to his faith and always attended Saturday Mass.
He was a 1949 graduate of Pottsville High School.
Sonny proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Marine Corps League. He was a proud and dedicated Marine to the end.
He worked in construction throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by his younger brother, Richard, and his older sister, Elizabeth.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews, as well as his godson Jamie Kopintetz of Hummelstown. In addition, there is Alice Brennan of Pottsville, a close friend, and his buddy, Rick Huber of Pottsville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 24th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 319 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, with Rev. Philip Rodgers officiating. A viewing will be held at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home, Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville from 10:00 a.m. until the procession will leave for church .
Interment with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hillside.
