Obituary for Alice E. Jeffries
Alice E. Jeffries, 99, of Pottsville, passed away on Monday afternoon in Providence Place, Pottsville. Born in Reading, on October 9, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Carl and LaRene (Ettele) Eggert. Alice was graduate of Reading High School and West Chester State Teachers College. She taught Physical Education for the Pottsville School District for over 25+ years and retired in 1960. She was a member Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, where she served on several committees over the past 50 years, which included church council, and chairing the Social Ministry committee. Alice also was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing puzzles and crossword puzzles. In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband, William S., who passed away in September 1986, and her brother, Charles Eggert. She was the last of her immediate family and is survived by a nephew, Carl Eggert and his wife, Val-lerie, of Warwick, RI; her caregivers and friends, Peggy and Ralph Jaeger; and cousins and god children. Interment in Laureldale Cemetery will be private. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
